Emily Osment (born March 10, 1992) is an American Actress, Singer, and songwriter born in Los Angeles, California. After working in several television films in her childhood, she gained fame for co-starring as the character Gerti Giggles in Spy Kids 2 and 3. She went on to co-star in the Emmy Award-nominated Disney Channel sitcom Hannah Montana as Lilly Truscott as well as the series movie, Hannah Montana: The Movie. She also starred as Cassie in R. L. Stine’s: The Haunting Hour Volume One: Don’t Think About It and the Disney Channel Original Movie, Dadnapped as Melissa Morris.
Osment expanded her repertoire into pop Music and alternative/indie rock where she has recorded teen pop hits like “I Don’t Think About It”, “If I Didn’t Have You” alongside her Hannah Montana co-star Mitchel Musso, and “Once Upon a Dream”.
Osment entered the world of Music recording soundtracks for movie singles and Disney albums. According to an interview at the 2008 Grammys she was writing some songs together with Eve 6. In 2009 she signed with the Wind-up Records label and released “All the Way Up”, the first single from her EP debut, All the Right Wrongs, released on October 26, 2009. The EP debuted at the Billboard 200 and her songs reached the top positions on the Canadian Hot 100 and Radio Disney. The EP was promoted within the United States by the 2010 Clap Your Hands Tour.
Osment’s debut album, Fight or Flight was released on October 5, 2010 via Wind-up Records. The lead single “Let’s Be Friends” was released on June 8, 2010 and the second single “Lovesick” was released on October 19, 2010. In October 2010 she began her Fight or Flight Tour, whose first performance took place in São Paulo, Brazil.
She starred in the 2011 ABC Family Original Movie, Cyberbully, the 2013/2014 series Cleaners, produced for the online service Crackle and the 2014 Lifetime movie A Daughter’s Nightmare and Studio Universal movie Kiss Me. 1998–2005: Beginning and films
Osment’s entry into the entertainment industry began in 1998, when she was cast in a commercial for flower delivery company FTD. From there she went on to feature in many commercials, after which she made her acting debut in the 1999 film The Secret Life of Girls, starring Eugene Levy and Linda Hamilton. The same year, she co-starred with Glenn Close in the Hallmark Classic telefilm Sarah, Plain and Tall: Winter’s End, a role that would lead a Young Artist Award nomination. Since then, she has gone on to do a number of roles, such as appearances on television shows like Touched by an Angel, Friends, and 3rd Rock from the Sun.
In 2002, Osment made her film debut as Gerti Giggles in Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams which grossed $229 million globally and for which she won the “Young Artist Award” for best performance in a feature film. In 2003, she reprised her role in the third part of the Spy Kids series, Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, which grossed $197 million worldwide. 2006–2007: Hannah Montana and musical beginnings
In 2006, Osment got the role of Lilly Truscott in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana. The series premiere scored record ratings for the Disney Channel with 5.4 million viewers, a response “beyond our wildest expectations”, according to the president of Disney Channel Entertainment. The show earned her a nomination for Young Artist Award in 2007 for best performance in a TV Series (Comedy or Drama). Osment also appeared in promoting Hannah Montana, Hannah Montana ‘s Backstage Secrets, which plays Lola in a fictional interview in the series canon . In addition, Osment helped to design some of the pieces from the collection of clothing Hannah Montana Disney, which released the last part in the summer of 2006.
She also had a voice over role in a movie called Holidaze: The Christmas That Almost Didn’t Happen. She performed several songs for the movie, including “Don’t Ya Just Love Christmas” and “One Day”. The two also filmed a Music video for their remake. In addition, she also recorded a song, released in 2008, with “The Disney Channel Circle of Stars”. She recorded a remake of “Once Upon A Dream”, released on September 12, 2008. She also starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Dadnapped which premiered in February 2009.According to an audio interview with Osment backstage at the Grammy of 2008, she was writing and recording tracks with Eve 6. In an interview with Half Taft Blue in 2008, Osment said she was working on her EP, All the Right Wrongs , although the sound would be different from her previous Disney Music. On September 18, 2009, Osment listed the songs that would appear on this EP on her official Twitter page. The EP was released by Wind-Up Records on October 27, 2009. Osment wrote most of the songs on the album. The track All the Way Up which premiered on Radio Disney in August 2009, followed by the second single “You Are The Only One” in February 2010.
In 2009 Osment announced that she was working on her Music debut, that she described her Music as “definitely Pop but with an Alternative rock edge.” She has collaborated on tunes with Tom Higgenson, Max Collins, Tony Fagenson, Toby Gad and Mandi Perkins. In May 2011, she released the duet single “Hush” with Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench. In 2011, Osment starred in the ABC Family movie about a young woman who suffers cyberbullying, called Cyberbully, released on July 17, 2011. ABC worked with Seventeen Magazine to make the film with the hope that help eliminate Internet harassment. It was filmed in Montreal and was released on DVD on February 7, 2012. In 2013, Osment starred in the TV series Cleaners, which in 2014 was announced for a second season. Osment had a cameo in Life with Boys, where she has to take a picture with the main character, Tess, and her boyfriend. She does not appear again and four episodes of Family Guy. She reprised her voice role as Pep for the third Beverly Hills Chihuahua film, which was released on DVD September 18, 2012, and was one of her last works at Disney.
Emily Osment confirmed through her official Facebook account that she had left her label Wind-Up Records and has launched an independent project with airs folk, indie and country in a band called Ramshackle, consisting of Osment and her friend Dan Schechter, performing in bars such as the Troubadour and at the Spiedie Fest 2013, performing covers of The Beatles, R. The ABC network renewed Young & Hungry for a second season on September 29, 2014.
In 2015, one of the projects Osment is involved in is the movie Love Is All You Need? The film, which also stars Briana Evigan is an independent drama set in a world where being gay is normal and heterosexual people are intimidated. In August 2015, Osment was booked for a recurring role on the third season of the CBS series Mom. She will play Jodi, a girl living on the street who is a drug addict; Christy (Anna Faris) and Bonnie (Allison Janney) try to help her stay clean. The third season will premiere on November 5, 2015.
