Janis Joplin

Janis Joplin (January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970) was an American rock, soul, and blues singer-songwriter, and one of the most successful and widely known female rock stars of her era. After releasing three albums, she died of a heroin overdose at the age of 27. A fourth album, Pearl, was released in January 1971, just over three months after her death. It reached number one on the Billboard charts.

Deborah Ann Harry (born July 1, 1945 as Angela Trimble) is an American singer, songwriter, model and actress, known as the lead singer of the new wave band Blondie.

Her recordings with the band reached number one in the US and UK charts on many occasions from 1979 to 1981; the band also had a sixth UK number one hit in 1999. Blondie’s song “Rapture” is considered the first rap song to chart at number one in the US. Harry also achieved success as a solo artist before re-forming Blondie in the late 1990s. Her acting career includes credits in over 60 films and television programs.

Patricia Smith (born December 30, 1946) is an American singer-songwriter who became an influential component of the New York City punk rock movement with her 1975 debut album Horses.

Called the “punk poet laureate,” Smith fused rock and poetry in her work. Her most widely known song is “Because the Night,” which was co-written with Bruce Springsteen. It reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1978 and number five in the U.K. In 2005, Smith was named a Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture. In 2007, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Cherie Currie (The Runaways)

Cherie Currie (born November 30, 1959) is an American musician, actress and artist. Currie was the lead vocalist of the Runaways, a rock band from Los Angeles, in the mid-to-late 1970s. After the Runaways, she became a solo artist. Then she teamed up with her identical twin sister, Marie Currie, and released an album with her. Their duet “Since You Been Gone” reached number 95 on US charts. Their band was called Cherie and Marie Currie. She is also well known for her role in the movie Foxes.
